I have been very busy as usual. I have a show coming up next weekend. I don’t really have very high hopes as I think it is a lower end show. But hopefully I will have some luck. You just never know when the right buyer will find you.
I have been working on getting my stock ready for next weekend and the other things coming up. Here are some of the items I have been working on.
And I made a bunch of earrings:
I have a couple of other things in the works. We did some casting in class on Monday and I have some great things that came of that. However, I am still in the clean up phase and will hopefully have something for that next week.
Hi, I love your new earrings (I love everything you make!!). What do you use to seal the high gloss finish on your copper?
Thanks, stef
Hi Stef,
I haven’t sealed these earrings, or any of my copper for that matter. I tell people that the copper is a living material and will tarnish. I have tried several things with sealing them, but none have worked for me yet. I have tried spraying them with a clear Krylon and different polishes, etc. I just tell people to clean them with a little bit of tooth paste and soft tooth brush and keep them stored in a plastic bag when not being worn to help keep the oxidation to a minimum. I have found that they oxidize much more slowly after I have tumbled them. If I have worked with the copper and don’t tumble, I notice that it tarnishes rather quickly.
Hope that helps a little.
Thanks so much for the compliments. I really appreciate it.
Melissa
