More Diamonds, a Triangle and a Weave

I have been busy this week. I worked on a new pendant and really like the way it turned out. I made some earrings to match the Diamonds pendant from last week and I tried a new technique….weaving.

The triangle pendant is fairly small. Only about an inch and a quarter. It features a 5mm black onyx. The back plate is hand textured with a hammer and I have applied some LOS to the backplate only to give it a little more depth.

The next picture is of the earrings that I worked on. I really like thiese. They are a tad long, about 2 1/2 inches, but are really pretty. I hand made the ear wires as well.

This is the woven peace. It is the first time I have ever tried anything like this. It took a little over 2 hours to get weaving done. I may try some of this again if I receive some good feedback on it. I have 3 pictures, the first is without any patina on the silver. The second picture is before I removed some of the patina. And the third pictures is after removing some of the patina. I am not sure which I like best. Let me know what you think.

Four Diamonds

The art festival didn’t go very well at all. I didn’t get one single sale out of it. Bummer. The lady that organized it said that there would be a lot of things she would change if she decides to do it again. She said she just didn’t get it organized the way she would have liked and didn’t have the right advertising. Oh well, I guess I will have to work on getting famous some other way. Thanks so much for the well wishes. I did appreciate them.

Well, Okay, so they aren’t REAL diamonds in my new piece, at least not in the sense of the gems, but there are four diamonds in it. ;D

This one took a LONG time to make. I am rather proud of this one. It is just a little over an inch and a half from the top of the bail to the bottom of the diamond and an inch and a half from side to side. It is all sterling silver, and like the rest of my work, completely hand made.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

A new pair of earrings & exciting news for me

Today I visited a local jewelry shop that is hosting an art festival this Saturday. I took in my pieces and the owner was blown away and loved my work. She has asked me to inventory and mark my pieces and she will be displaying and (hopefully) selling them on Saturday. YAY! She is going to start taking in artist works and selling them on consignment and she told me to be thinking about that after the art festival. I am very excited about getting my name out there a little bit more. Hopefully I will be able to drum up some more sales.

This is a pair of earrings to match the Sleek and Simple Pendant posted below. They are made with 6mm black onyx and sterling silver. The ear wires are soldered to the back of the earrings.

Rainbow Moonstone

I worked on this one last night. I had drawn out several different possible patterns on paper the night before and I decided to give this one a try. It turned out okay. I wish I had used brass for the tube rivets though. It would just give it a little more dimension I think. But I do like the sleek look of the silver too. I am waiting on an order from Rio Grande that has some polishing papers and sanding discs. I think I will work on this piece a bit more when I get those. Until then, here is the piece.

Here is a pendant I reworked for a previous customer. And my very first ever Ring.

The ring is a bit on the rough side, but I enjoy wearing it all the same.

Happy Birthday to Me

Yup, today is my birthday. In honor of that, I made myself some new earrings and a pendant. They took me all stinking day to finish too. I had exceptional trouble with the pendant, but I really really really like the way it turned out. I don’t know if I will put this one up for sale or not. If I do, it certainly won’t be cheap.

The pendant is made with sterling silver. Soldering the swirls on was the hardest part. I melted quite a bit of silver today. That rarely happens to me. But it sure did today. The stone in the middle of the pendant is just a glob of glass.

The earrings are Sterling silver and 5mm Black Onyx. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.
